Drone in flight

Drone photography – Technical information

It has been a long held ambition to create ‘Virtual Visits’ of the cottage and its surroundings, something that is now possible thanks to drone photography. This will enable anyone to take ‘virtual’ walks and see the cottage in its beautiful and remote landscape in the heart of the Exmoor National Park.

A word from our drone photographer Shaun

We will be conducting flights over the moor to and from Hoar Oak Cottage on a few dates over the coming months. It is impossible to predict when we will be operating in advance, as it is very dependant upon weather and ground conditions. Decisions to fly will likely be taken on the day.

We will be flying and filming relatively low to the ground (around 5-10 metres) along recognised rights of way at a fairly low speed, to give an impression similar to walking.

Our project is being conducted with the full knowledge and blessing of Exmoor National Park Authority and the other landowners along our proposed routes. All drone operations will fully comply with UK drone law as set by the Civil Aviation Authority and specified in the Drone and Model Aircraft Code (https://www.caa.co.uk/drones/open-category/drone-code/) Drones will be piloted by a qualified drone pilot with third party liability insurance.

We will be doing our utmost to avoid disturbing other users of the moor, livestock and wildlife. However, if you see us, please do come and say hello. If you believe that you might have been filmed by one of our drones and do not want to appear in our videos, please let us know and we will make sure you are removed from our final edit.
