A History of 12 Years on Exmoor 1845 to 1857 by William Hannem
Handwritten manuscript in the vernacular of William Hannem’s experience of being the tenant of Cornham Farm during the period of the Knight’s Landlord and Tenant ‘experiment’ on Exmoor.
A total of 420 pages approximately A5 in size.
This original manuscript is held in the Bodleian Library – donated by one of William Hannem’s daughters family.

An edited transcription, with introduction, can be found in C.S. Orwin and R.J. Sellick, The Reclamation of Exmoor Forest (Newton Abbot, 1970), pp. 237-291.
The Friends paid for a digital copy of the original manuscript to be made by the Bodleian Library Copy Service and now hold that copy in their archive. It can be used for research and private interest/reading only. A transcription of the entire document is currently underway which will enable it to be searched and read digitally.
