Collection

What’s in it? Photographs, drawings, letters, BMD certificates, reference documents, diaries, newspaper cuttings etc. which help tell the story of Hoar Oak Cottage.  Much of the material in the collection is ‘second generation’ – for example digital images of original photographs or documents – as The Friends feel precious family photos and documents should stay with the people who have shared them.
Who is it for? The collection is for anyone with a specific interest in Hoar Oak Cottage as well as for those with general interests in geneaology, domestic and farming life on Exmoor, in sheep farming, in the Scottish migration to Exmoor.
How can I use it? Highlights of the collection are available online and more will be added over time. You can contact info@hoaroakcottage.org for enquiries about what is in the collection and to find out more about specific items that are available or items pertaining to a subject area you are interested in.
